Meet Your Doula

Hello! I’m Liz :) I live in the Des Moines metro area along with my husband, two boys, and our golden retriever, Crosby. In a ‘hustle everywhere and do all the things’ culture, we enjoy a slower paced, intentional lifestyle together as a family. I’m passionate about Jesus, homemaking, homeschooling our boys, baking sourdough, clean & healthy living, and gardening. Hopefully someday we will have our own homestead too :) I have a running list of animals I’d love to have, starting with some chickens and goats!

I have always had a love for births from a young age. My dad was an OB doctor in the area, and when the circumstances allowed, he would often bring me along to various things at the hospital. It was something I really enjoyed! When I was pregnant with our first son, I was determined to have an unmedicated birth. I had talked with a friend who shared some great information with me to help me prepare for my upcoming labor & birth. While all of that was so helpful, and I ended up having my unmedicated birth (which was still amazing & beautiful!), I realized that I wanted to change something for future births. I needed that feeling of empowerment and added encouragement & emotional support. When I was pregnant with our second son, I knew I wanted a doula. After this unmedicated, shorter (!) labor and birth, I was a firm believer in the need for and importance of having a doula present. I then had a desire to help other mamas experience the same thing I had! My passion grew in wanting to help, support, empower, encourage, and walk alongside other women (and their spouse!) going through this very special & vulnerable journey. Witnessing first hand the birth of new life is incredible, and witness the joy & profound accomplishment of the mother in that moment is truly amazing. I’m always so honored & humbled when I get the privilege to experience those moments.
